Northern Mariana’s Athletics operates a range of events in Saipan. A new event to the suite in2021 was the NMI Women’s Run, an innovative competition product aligned to International Women’s Day. The event featured a physical 10km for women and a range of virtual events for women, men and off island competitors.
The President of Oceania Athletics, Robin Sapong, works closely with the local government and a range of clubs, volunteers and athletes to introduce new and innovative ways for the athletes of NMI, as well as the general public, to take part in competition while keeping fit and healthy.
“We strive to continue to keep all of our events fresh and fun for our regular participants as well as the many newcomers locally and in usual times, internationally, who want to escape to our beautiful island known for its sandy shores and mountainous landscapes. Technology and in particular registration is a key aspect ofthe participants journey and so it’s an aspect that I wanted to heavily focus on this year after the interruptions of Covid19.”
When asked why they made the switch to the Race Roster System and team DTE Endurance Robin responded.
“It is quite simply a very sophisticated registration platform. It’s intuitive in the sense that as an event organiser, we could learn and utilise the basics of the system very quickly and easily which was vital for our volunteers at the club and participants who have not traditionally used online registration. However, it didn’t take me long to play around with some of the more advanced features including the results and virtual functionality, which really make the journey more exciting for our participants prior, during and after the event day. The virtual functionality, results and automatic certificate functionality was amazing!”
“The Customer Service team was also outstanding. Being new to moving online it was essential I had all the support I needed. From the very first meeting where I met people as passionate as me about the sport of Athletics and running more generally, to the setup of the event, to the fast and knowledgeable responses, the DTE Endurance team has been sensational! The great thing was also that it didn’t end once the event has completed. I am now using the very sophisticated analytics to pull out live graphs and information to present to our authorities here to get greater support moving forward.
